Set in East Texas in 1989, the SNES controller didn't even exist then! The SNES was officially released in North America two years later, IIRC...

the show has never really been for or even about nerds. they don't give a fuck about those details.

One thing that surprises me is that they're still doing cinematic trailers.

I dont know if the tech has changed in the past five years or what, but I know it used to be something you'd pay Blur millions of dollars to make. And yet Overwatch is still putting out multiple a year. Even WoW only gets one per expansion.

I assume the art style helps make it cheaper but still.

WoW has actually gotten like 3 this expansion. no idea why or if the tech is really that much cheaper, but i guess either way for whatever reason they decided to drop the once per expansion thing.
